Adelaide Airport Aviation Fuel Facility (AAAFF)

In December 2021, Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL) acquired the jet fuel storage infrastructure, previously referred to as the Joint Operated Storage Facility (JOSF).

The jet fuel storage facility is the gateway to the Adelaide Airport’s fuel supply infrastructure. AAL’s ownership provides open and transparent access to aviation fuel.  Together with the Joint User Hydrant Installation (JUHI), which was already owned by AAL, the AAAFF assets are vital to the daily operations of the airport.

AAAFF Assets

The AAAFF within Adelaide Airport includes the fuel depot, refuelling operations, administration and storage facilities – two 1.4M Litre Jet A1 storage tanks plus AVGAS storage.

The AAAFF is connected by the JUHI to T1 with direct airside access for hydrant dispensers and refuelling tankers.

Delivery of fuel to the facility is via road tankers which source fuel from Largs Bay or Birkenhead.

Operations and Maintenance

AAL has partnered with Skytanking to operate and maintain the AAAFF.

Skytanking is independent of fuel supply and has significant global experience in operating airport fuel facilities and providing a full range of aviation fuelling services including into-plane fuelling, aviation fuel storage and hydrant management. Skytanking has operations at 83 airports in 13 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia and employs around 1,900 people.
