Simon Casson Photography Exhibition
Award-winning photographer Simon Casson has opened an exhibition of spectacular aviation images at Adelaide Airport.
The exhibition draws from his archive of images taken for Adelaide Airport over many years. They range in style from intricate engine details of aircraft such as Boeing Dreamliners and Airbus A350’s to stunning aerial shots taken from above with a dramatic ‘straight down’ focus.
“I love the industrial design of modern aircraft and always seek out the angle or detail to accentuate the beauty of the aircraft and the surroundings in which I might find them”
Many of the images have won numerous awards including the Australian Institute of Professional Photography South Australian and Australian Commercial Photographer of the Year.
His love of aviation photography was inspired by his grandfather who was a ‘bush pilot’ in country South Australia. He captured everyday life on his travels on both stills and 16mm movie cameras, these are now archived in the State Library of South Australia. Some of his favourite images are captured from the air via helicopter.
“Any day flying is a good day, and when I am asked to shoot an aircraft or a subject on the ground from the open door of a helicopter it’s a great day!”
Simon has been working as a professional photographer for more than 20 years and provides stills and video for a variety of defence, aviation, corporate and industrial clients such as Babcock, Santos, Cobham, EY, DefenceSA, Green Industries SA, Stratco, Aerotech, Epic Energy, Australian Hotels Association, Baptist Care and Adelaide Airport of course!
The images can be seen at Gate 14 and 26 at Terminal One at Adelaide Airport, you can also visit the online Print Store to purchase images here.
